Day 18, Seattle Day trip

For Liesl.

We planned two rest days in Seattle. The first we would use going into the city via the many forms of transportation that are provided. First the bus, the good old 180 in our case. Naturally as it is a municipal service  it was 10 minutes late - lucky that it came at all some may say. We were warned that the driver required the exact amount.  You see, the bus authority have not heard of Visa, unlike the light rail system that came next. As we are no longer ashamed declaring our age, we claimed our senior citizen discount which resulted in a $1 fare. Little wonder these light rail systems are money losers. A 45 minute ride took us into the city and a block away from the mono-rail system . This system has one function, that is to take whoever is on it to the Space Needle. It was built in 1962 for the the World Fare  as was the "Needle". Having delivered us without choice to the "Needle" we felt honor bound to take a ride to the top.  Colleen and I hugged the inside wall - why do they build public buildings to scare people .
It was a good day.
